A Darling Flower Child

Last weekend, my boyfriend and I took the one-hour trip to Serenbe Farms. Serenbe is a small community “focusing on land preservation, agriculture, energy efficiency, green building, walkability, high density building, arts and culture, and community living for multiple generations,” according to the official website. They were having a festival with vendors, food trucks and other spring activities where one of our friends, Allison of Flower Crown Society, was a vendor, so of course we had to head over to show our support for the local vendors and shop. (I ended up getting some amazing strawberry lavendar jam – amazing!)
We had so much fun browsing all the goods and spent some time strolling the streets and viewing some open houses in the community – they were gorgeous! The day was perfect, but then on the way home, we passed a beautiful field of flowers. It just happened to be near sunset and we both knew we had to stop. The impromptu shoot produced some of my favorite photos to date. Isn’t it funny how that happens?

The day was absolutely perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a better memory.
When was the last time you stopped to smell the flowers?

Still Flowery at 40

I went to high school during the ’80s, but there was a great resurgence of interest in the ’60s at that time. By my senior year, I was all about tie dye, faded denim and listening to the Doors and Beatles instead of the then-chart-topping Tiffany and Poison. Can you blame me? It does my heart good to see a woman of your generation embracing those good old hippie values. I’ve never been to a place like Serenbe Farms, but it sounds absolutely wonderful. Your pictures are stunning, and you are absolutely right to stop and smell the flowers. Life moves faster the older you get, and youth is more fleeting than any young person can ever guess. Enjoy every moment of what looks like a beautiful life, and best wishes in all your pursuits.

I couldn’t love this comment any more! I love The Doors & The Beatles too. It is important to stop and take a step back from the fast pace of life every once in a while. I have already noticed that life has been moving so much faster than it used to, so I can only imagine how much that increases with age. I try to be conscious of it as much as I can. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing in your comment. I feel like we’re kindred spirits and I hope to see you here again!
