With a new year comes new hopes and dreams. Like I shared in my 2013 reflection post, I think it’s important for us to realize that it is up to us to make our dreams come true. Simply wishing on a star just isn’t enough. This year I am making it a point to work hard for what I want and make it happen no matter what. If you are subscribed to my monthly newsletter, then you already got a sneak peek of my goals list. I decided to make ten goals for 2014. The following are at the top of my list this year:

1. Travel outside of the U.S.
I have never been outside of the country, but I have wanted to go for as long as I can remember. The ONLY thing holding me back is money, so I am going to work hard to save enough to buy a ticket and roam for a week or two. Any travel suggestions are welcome!

2. Make $X from blogging
As my main source of income, I need to make a goal for a set dollar amount I want to earn this year from Lush to Blush. This will also help me with goal #1!

3. Become fluent in Spanish
I have taken Spanish classes for six years, my mom is a Spanish teacher and I’m half Puerto Rican/ Nicaraguan. I really have NO excuse not to be fluent.

4. Get 10,000 followers on Instagram
I have been slowly growing my following for the past few months and I really want to get up to the 5 digit mark. Having a sizable social following helps with sponsorships and getting more blog readers, so it is something that’s very important to me!

5. Share my writing on more blogs/online magazines
This means guest posting, submitting, and contributing like crazy to get my work and my blog out there. I think I’m already off to a great start with Nellie Magazine!

6. Score at least one more consistent freelance gig
Freelancing is so inconsistent. You could be ballin’ one month and then broke the next. For now, I can count on my income from Groupon City Guide since I’m under contract with them, but adding just one more weekly or monthly gig to my schedule would be super helpful.

7. Write a book
I have this amazing idea for a book that I am really excited about. It is going to take a lot of work, but I really want to make it happen this year. I don’t know the first thing about publishing, but I will just have to cross that bridge when I get to it! One step at a time…

8. Attend a blogging event
Last year, I went to IFBcon and met some really fabulous people. I learned so much in two short days and it was an overall wonderful experience. I hope I have the opportunity to attend another blogging event this year, even if it’s not one of the major conferences.

9. Share more of my blogging secrets
I have only been blogging for under two years, but I have learned an incredible amount in that time. I wish I had someone to guide me when I was first starting, so I hope I can do that for someone else. I started offering blog consulting services, but I’d like to figure out other ways to help build up other bloggers. We’re all in this together, after all! 🙂

10. Volunteer/Donate more
I always donate something at least once/month–even if it’s just $5–but this year, I’d like to donate more of my time. Since I work from home, my schedule is more flexible than it used to be; I should take advantage of that and do some good.

Wow, looking back on this list makes me super excited for the new year. I’m looking forward to it, even if I am a little bit scared!

What are your goals for 2014? I’d love it if you shared them in the comments!
