Although it’s the first thing guests see when they enter my home, the entryway is an area I admittedly put off decorating. To say this space is tiny does not quite explain just how tight it is. When you enter my front door, you’re looking at stairs, both up and down. I basically have about a six by two foot area to welcome guests. And to make it worse, we take our shoes off at the door, so they pretty much take up that entire space when they start to pile up. Finding a solution for this small space seemed nearly impossible.

When it comes to decorating, I’ve found that there are certain textures and patterns that really add a lot to a room. Boucle adds comfort, velvet adds a luxe feel, and matte black brings the cool. The same can be said for wood. In addition to the many common tones of wood (maple, oak, etc.), there are also different types that aren’t quite as easily accessible. One of those is burlwood and yall, it. is. gorgeous.
I’ve been a December baby since I was born (get it? Because I was born in December? Hilarious!!) and I’ve embraced the month since even though I hate cold weather. But I think that’s why I embrace it. Of course I love my birthday, but I love Christmas almost as much. So I love amplifying the celebration of the two to compensate for the frigid temps.
