My first full day in London was spent in Covent Garden. This neighborhood is where I first fell in love with London. I absolutely loved everything about it: the cobblestone streets, the beautiful shops, the flowers, the friendly people; it completely drew me in. We walked around Covent Garden as well as the adjacent neighborhood of Soho and I absolutely didn’t want to leave.

I was with my mom, sister, and fellow blogger friend and photographer, Lix. Lix lived in London for a while, so having her as a kind of tour guide was so great. We started the afternoon at the Covent Garden covered marketplace area shopping and browsing restaurants. We wanted to explore, so after walking around a bit, we worked up an appetite and settles at Brasserie Max at the Covent Garden Hotel. Most of the people there were having afternoon tea, which was so lovely! The plates and treats are seriously so pretty. But we were hungry, so we went with mac & cheese, fries, and literally every item on the apps list. Oops.

After we ate, we continued to walk around and shop. While I do love my clothes, my favorite thing to shop for in every country I go to is used books. There are obviously tons of used bookstores in London. We went down all the little alleyways near the seven dials, where we found some gems. I ended up getting one mystery book and I’m really looking forward to reading it!

We snapped some touristy pics at a red phone booth before grabbing some drinks at a pub. After our drinks we stopped back at our flat to change and then headed to dinner at Sketch, which is probably the coolest place I’ve ever been. Great decor, lacking service and food/drink quality. Sad to reveal that, but it’s the truth! Overall I’d say Day #1 in London was perfect. Can you blame me for loving it? I already can’t wait to go back!

What’s your favorite neighborhood in London?
