Every time July 4 comes around, I’m at a loss for what to wear. I always picture american flag printed pieces with stars everywhere. But the truth is, showing your red, white & blue pride can be done tastefully. There are just a few tips to achieve a classic Americana look.
1. Use one color as your main focus & the other two as accents. Having an even amount of red, white and blue is a little too much and can look like you’re trying too hard. Try incorporating red with some bold lipstick!
2. Avoid stars. They’re super cliche and can look tacky very easily. Just avoid them all together to stay safe!
3. Dress for the occasion. Don’t get too wrapped up in wearing the right colors that you forget where you’re going. It’s more important to be comfortable than to wear certain colors.
Here are a few of my favorites:
Most of all, have fun! This holiday is a great time to take a break from work and do what you love, whether that be partying with friends or relaxing at home with loved ones. Happy Independence Day!
What will you be wearing this year & how will you be celebrating?

I bought a new graphic tshirt to wear to a BBQ. I’ll pair it with shorts since it’s going to be ridiculously hot out. And of course everything I’m wearing on the Fourth will be made in the USA.

That sounds so cute! And great point about it being made in the USA! I didn’t even think about that. Hope you had a great day!!

I like the all white outfit. I normally try to do blue red and white but maybe not this year… we’ll see!

Love this! Subtle holiday inspired looks are perfect! You’re right, it doesn’t have to be so literal!

Love the post, I agree I am very impartial to the annual 4th of July Fashion post, that incorporate too much Red, White and Blue, but I like when people can get creative with how they wear their pieces. Subtle is always better.

I’m going to a cook-out with my boyfriends old roommates (who still live at his old place) and I’m debating wearing white jeans, but I’m concerned I’ll spill something on them! Because that’s just my luck! I always end up overdressing, or looking too fancy when I go to parties a haha!
July 4, 2014 @ 7:10 pm
Oh how fun! I know I would probably end up spilling. I’m always trying to do too many things at once and it always backfires on me haha. Enjoy the BBQ party!!

Perfect tips. I normally do something with denim, white converse and a red tee. Totally typical lol
