Black & Tan Winter Layers

Well, it’s officially below freezing in Atlanta. And while I may despise the cold weather, at least I can layer up to fight the cold. Last night it reached 12 degrees and I have been avoiding going outside as much as I can. Unfortunately, I had some errands to run yesterday, so I had to face the frigid outdoors. I went with black & tan layers, topped off with my favorite hat to add a pop of color.
I have been searching for the perfect over the knee boot all season. I haven’t found them yet, but I did find this pair of my sister’s from last season. Though I wish they were a little tighter and more structured, they had to do for my day about town. I simply couldn’t handle anything below the knee! I wore my favorite jeans and a turtleneck layered beneath not one, but two coats. I also layered some high socks under my pants to keep those toes toasty!

Since I’m a total noob when it comes to cold weather and layering, I’d love your tips! How do you keep warm in the winter?
What are your favorite colors and prints to layer?

Every time I see these boots, I realise how much I need a suede pair more and more! I actually love layering navy, black and white pieces.

Ooh, I like that color combo! Yeah, this look definitely called for suede. I want a pair of suede heel OTKs!

Yeah, I have been reeaalllyyy close to getting the lowland so many times this year, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. Maybe I’ll cave one of these days if I can’t find anything more affordable!

So to really keep warm, I’d wear one or two pair of hose under the jeans along with a pair of knee socks (wool, not cotton). I have the fur lined tights also, but you probably don’t need them that often in Atlanta! Then I’d have one or two long underwear tops under the turtleneck! The hat is perfect! Trust me, I know…I live in Colorado!! Jodie

Oh wow, that sounds warm! I have never heard of fur lined tights, but they sound amazing. I just wore thigh high cotton socks, but wool would have been awesome. Thanks so much for the tips!!

It is cold. We got to 8 degrees. I pile on layers of clothes. I weigh 105 but by the time I head out the door I probably look fat. I’m guessing I layer on about 5 ponds or more of extra clothing.
