When it comes to making goals, the first category I always go to is blogging. Not only is it my career, but blogging really is my life. So of course I am always looking to improve in that area. I think my main goal for 2015 is expansion. I really want to not only expand my reach and audience, but also expand to offer new content in different ways. In short, my blogging goals are as follows:
1. Get to 50K followers on Instagram.
Last year, my goal was to get to 10K and now I’m at 17K. Really hoping I can do it! There’s definitely a shift to microblogging and Instagram is king. It’s by far the best social media platform for bloggers.
2. Start making videos!
This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, but definitely requires some major commitment. YouTube is such a great way to reach a new audience, but it has to be done right. I’ve decided to do my research and start this new method of content creation in 2015. P.S. I’m totally open to video ideas!
3. Reply to all comments.
I’ve always made it a point to reply to all the comments I get here on my blog, but I’ve really been slacking lately. My 2015 goals is the perfect reminder I need.
4. Make $X in one month.
While I find it tacky to talk exact numbers, I do have a specific dollar amount in mind that I want to reach this year. I’m 75% there so as long as I keep growing, I think I’ve got this!
Making goals/resolutions is easy, but I think the most important thing to recognize is how we plan to reach those goals. As Johnny and I sat in bed on new year’s eve and made a list of goals, we made sure to write down what we’re going to do to achieve each one. A goal isn’t much without a plan to back it up.
What are your 2015 blogging goals?

I’d love to get to 1000 Blog followers this year, but my main goal is to improve social media (particularly instagram as I love it, but forget to post) and engage with the blogging community. Desperate to get to a meet up or event!
Good luck with all of your goals, I totally agree about needing a plan to get them to work! x

This is so great, Megan! I”m proud of you for setting these awesome goals, and I know you’ll accomplish them. I’m excited to see what video content you come up with! I think a personal closet tour would be a great place to start 🙂
I’m aiming to take a chunk of time of FINALLY transfer my content from WordPress.com to WordPress.org before March – I know it will make a huge difference in my readership and creative control, and will be totally worth it!

These are such amazing goals! I know I’ve told you this before, but you really inspire me when it comes to running your blog as a business. I decided that it’s something that I really want to do, and seeing your success makes me want to take my blog to the next level.
I have several blog goals for 2015, and I’m happy to say that I fulfilled three of them already.
1) Get a media kit: I made one, and while it’s not amazing, it’s definitely a start, and hopefully one day I’ll have the money to invest in a better one.
2) Get business cards: I finally ordered some a few days ago.
3) Create a blog group: I launched on Monday, and it’s already going so well!
Thanks so much for being an inspiration to me! You’re awesome!

That is so nice! I love hearing that I inspire you! Let me know if you ever have any questions 🙂 Love your goals! A media kit i definitely essential & business cards are very helpful at events. I’ll have to join your group – invite me if you can! 🙂 xo

I am writing full-time this year, so I would like to start making money from my words somehow, whether it is through my own blog or articles on other sites! I can’t even imagine what an exact dollar amount might look like for me at this point. I’d also love to boost the number of daily views on my site to over 100, and keep it there (rather than having spike days and then dropping back down).

That’s a great goal! I spent a year freelance writing as I grew my blog and I found it pretty difficult to find good gigs that I was actually interested in. Freelance writing is so much tougher than people think. Good luck with your goals!

Love your goals. I start with blogging too because it’s what I’m working to be my full time career and I absolutely love it! Your goals are similar to mine except I just need to perfect my instagram in general. It’s been the hardest social media for me! I’m a Twitter girl at heart. Oh I’m making videos too! Yay!

These are great goals, and it seems like they’re achievable with hard work. It’s one of the awesome things about blogging. I feel like the more time and effort you put into the blog and social media, the more you see the growth (and eventually, return).
My goals this year are always to keep growing and improving my blog, but I want to take that next step in professionalism, and create my media kit. I want to be able to reach out to brands, PR agencies, etc and have that level of professionalism.
Best of luck with your goals!
Jackie

Follow through is the hardest part about making goals. These are awesome goals, though! I want to monetize my blog eventually, but it honestly sounds like a bit of a headache. As far as gaining more followers goes, what do you do to grow your Instagram followers? Thanks for linking up this month! This was so fun!
Megan
January 18, 2015 @ 3:57 pm
Definitely true! The follow through can be tough if you let that initial momentum die down. Monetization is pretty meticulous, but worth it in my opinion! For Instagram, engaging with others is really important. I always tag relevant brands in my posts!

I love these goals! Although I still want to grow my following, I want to work more on growing my readership. I feel like last year my following grew a lot but not that many of them were actually reading my blog. I feel like there are so many bloggers that are venturing into youtube this year! I would love to at some point but right now my life isn’t interesting enough haha! Really I just need to get the courage to talk to a camera! I would love to start earning more from blog design and similar things like that! I definitely need to sit down and figure out how to achieve my goals so I can make sure I can actually achieve all of them!
Megan
January 18, 2015 @ 3:58 pm
Yeah, figuring out HOW to achieve the goals you set is key. And I know what you mean about followers vs. readership. It can be really hard to have those followers translate to readers. I’ll let you know if I ever figure out the secret to it! Haha
