Instagram is without a doubt the most popular social media platform for bloggers and brands alike right now. Your Instagram following says a lot about your credibility. There’s no denying it: if you’re in the digital media space at all, you will be judged by your Instagram feed and following. I’ve definitely learned a thing or two about growing a following in the past couple years and although I’m not in the 6 figure range yet, I don’t think nearly 25k is anything to be laughed at. Here’s what has helped me grow, as well as other bloggers I’ve discussed it with:
1. Stick to an aesthetic
There’s nothing worse that an jumbled mess of random photos that aren’t cohesive at all. The whole draw of Instagram is the creative content that is created and shared by people all across the world. Bring out your inner artist and make your feed beautiful by following a certain theme or color pattern. I personally enjoy light photos with lots of white.
2. Upload a variety of photos
No one wants to see a feed full of the same photos you post on your blog or website. If they did, they would just go to your blog or website. Make your Instagram special by sharing unique and exclusive content, whether that be behind the scenes shots, coffee on your desk, your newest purchase, whatever. Then incorporate your blog (or product if you’re a brand) photos every now and then to create a balance and drive followers to your site.
3. Quality over quantity
Quality is key when it comes to Instagram photos, but using a DSLR for all your photos is not only difficult and a little inauthentic, but it also sometimes feels like a cop out (unless you’re a photographer, of course). But at the same time, most phones take grainy photos. That’s where a high quality phone like the LG G4 comes in. I started using this phone to take my Instagram photos (as well as answer work emails – it has amazing multi-tasking features!) and I’ve noticed a fab increase in quality. If you’re in the market for a new or second phone for work, I definitely recommend signing up for the pre-register for the new LG G4 – I couldn’t be happier with mine! Take time to create beautiful photos for your feed; don’t just post for the sake of posting.

There is so much you can do to increase your following. In fact, I offer several more tips via Adorn Media Group, but these are some major things that helped me.
What do you do to increase your Instagram following?

Great tips! I’m always so envious of people who manage to give their Instagram page a specific color scheme. It’s on my to-do list, but also so difficult when you get inspired by any and everything =p
I’ve found that interacting (liking, commenting, following) with other users like myself draws them to my page to check me out, and you can get more exposure/followers that way!
