We write about beauty, give you our fashion input, and hook you up with DIY’s. Now it’s time to let you take a little peek into our lives. Ever wonder what fashion and beauty editors and writers use themselves? Well, here are our most treasured beauty products that we couldn’t imagine our busy lives without.

I have been a huge fan of Bare Minerals for about ten years now. I can remember the moment I first heard about this amazing product like it was yesterday. The summer before sophomore year in high school, my roommate at cheerleading camp was putting on makeup at night time. We were all getting ready for bed and I was confused, so I asked her about it. “It’s good for your skin” she told me. I then began seeing infomercials about it and eventually got my mom to buy me my very own starter kit. I have been hooked since and couldn’t even imagine switching my foundation; I use it everyday. It doesn’t clog my pores and makes me look like I have perfect skin. I’m so deceitful! 😉

I, like most women, have scoured the globe for the perfect mascara. From drugstore to designer, I was never completely satisfied. Until, I took a chance on DiorShow mascara by Dior. I first tried this mascara a few years ago, thanks to a glowing review of the product in Real Simple magazine. My review? Perfection. I really, finally, unbelievably found mascara that makes my lashes look darker, fuller, and longer. Also, this mascara doesn’t smudge or smear. So, never again will you have to worry about looking like a teenager who just broke up with her boyfriend. It is absolutely worth every cent of the $25.00 price tag. And if you still don’t believe me, Diorshow mascara is available at Sephora where you can test it out, fall in love, and let me say, “I told you so.”
Somme is a high end skin care company that is the ONLY skin care line in the world to actually undergo clinical trials. They actually had scientists from Harvard and various other places do trials on their products. They have anti-aging and also have had great results with acne prone skin. When I use Somme, I do not feel like I just put a pound of product on my face after washing and using each step in the line. After all I just “cleansed” my face and with Somme it actually feels clean! I also love the warming mask; it is gentle and truly feels like you’ve just entered an expensive spa each and every time…simply lovely. Finally, I absolutely love the way my makeup goes on after using Somme. My foundation, (I use mineral powder) glides on. I also find that I’m using less. Not sure why that is, it just is. 🙂 Read all about my journey with Somme here.

I love the Smashbox Photo Op under eye brightener. I had gotten it as a sample size and it lasted me almost an entire year using it almost every day! Between late nights and early mornings in college, this was a lifesaver for my under the eye bags, and it still is! It’s light, creamy and all you need is a dab to brighten up your entire eye and make you look awake. It might be small, but it lasts so long and is worth every penny!

This decision was a very hard one to make. I would have to say if I had to pick one makeup product, it would be my foundation. I use Lancome Oscillation Powerfoundation in shade Ivory 20. The foundation is talc-free, oil-free, fragrance-free and is available in twelve different shades. What makes this foundation different than other powder foundations is the sponge. It has micro-massagers that apply the foundation with 7,000 micro-vibrations per minute. This takes the stress out of having to buff loose minerals on your face. I love this product because it is extremely build-able. So if you have a break out, you don’t need to fret. This foundation will cover it for you. The micro-vibrations leave your skin with a flawless, airbrush finish just like in the makeup advertisements!
Do you use any of these products? What beauty item is vital to your survival?
