So I crossed yet another thing off my 30 before 30 list this week: I jumped off a cliff into the water at Chiang Mai Canyon. I’ll be honest. I was looking forward to this activity the most of everything we had planned for Chiang Mai. I’ve always thought cliff jumping looked like so much fun and what a perfect place to do it for the first time!

Chiang Mai Canyon is an old quarryย that has been filled with water – so much that you could almost completely submerge the statue of liberty. So it is definitely deep enough to jump in without any worries. The cliff you jump off of is almostย 46 feet high, so it’s pretty high up there. But everyone goes to jump – it’s of course the highlight of any experience there!

It’s about 15-20 minutes from Chiang Mai by car. To get in, you pay 50 baht, which is about $1.50. There is a place to order food and beer, which is awesome. The beer is what finally gave me the courage to jump. That and a lot of encouragement from a lot of people, including a text or two from the US. It was amazing! I cannot tell you how glad I am that I jumped. We were the last people at the canyon and I finally did it. Such a fun time!

Since I knew we were going to walking on rocky terrain, I wore my new mox shoes. They were perfect for this and for a few other outdoor activities we did in Chiang Mai. I actually love these shoes more than I thought I would and I don’t know what I would have done without them! My sister ended up buying some water shoes, but mine were just as functional and are actually super cute! And how amazing is this swimsuit?!?! I wanted to wear a one piece so I wouldn’t lose anything jumping off. It worked out perfectly!

I would definitely recommend Chiang Mai Canyon to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. It was almost as cool as playing with rescued elephants!

Have you ever gone cliff jumping?
