Barely standing over 5 feet tall, I never thought I would be able to pull off cropped denim. I always worried that the shorter leg would make me appear even stumpier than I already am. Then I saw Rachel Bilson rock the trend and I knew I had to give it a try. Although I’m not as teeny tiny as she is, I had a feeling I could do it–and I was right!
While in NYC, I took my opportunity to shop at Zara, one of my favorite online sites to dream-shop on. I don’t have a store near me and never feel comfortable ordering online if I have never purchased from that particular store and know how their sizes run. How I can range from a 00 to a 4 is beyond me. Anyway, I had been on the prowl for mint denim when I came across these beautiful trousers. The fact that they were cropped scared me, but I at least had the confidence to try them on. I didn’t regret it at all.
The length is much longer on me than on the model, but it still looks great. I can wear them with flats for a casual day look or dress them up with some pretty sandal heels.
I hate it when I feel like my height is holding me back from trying trends and if there’s one thing I have learned in the past year, it’s that fashion rules are nonsense. Try what you like and don’t let your height influence your style choices. A 6-foot-tall amazon can wear platform heels and a 5-foot-tall petite can wear a maxi skirt. Be confident in who you are and let your natural beauty and impeccable style shine!
