I absolutely love being a full-time blogger. I’m able to create beautiful content by sharing the things I love with an amazingly wonderful community. But I quickly learned that I wanted to be able to help other bloggers by sharing the things I’ve learned along the way. One of the ways I do that is by offering blog consulting services through Adorn Media Group, a company I co-founded with my friend and fellow blogger Lauren. The other way is a bit more visually exciting: web design.
I’ve been interested in coding and websites since I had my first website in 9th grade. It was an ancient site called LiveJournal. Anyone remember that?! Back in those days, in 2002 to be exact, I taught myself how to write little snippets of code to alter the appearance of my LJ. Then MySpace came out and I did the same thing. Once I was finally allowed to join Facebook with my brand new college email address (yes, I’m that old), my coding days took a break. It wasn’t until I started my blog in 2012 that I picked it back up again.
I really wanted to make some big changes to my site. Options were super limited back then, so I dived deep into teaching myself web design and the different coding languages required to make those changes. Thanks to Google, I became completely fluent in HTML and CSS and was able to build my own site from scratch. After enough blogger friends asked me for my help, I was able to start offering design services and in 2014, that’s exactly what I did.
Five years later, here I am helping some amazingly talented bloggers’ visions come to life. It makes me so happy to take their ideas and inspirations and create something from nothing. I love creating simple, clean designs that are also pretty and unique. I recently took the time to refresh and update my design site and I love how it turned out. Then this past weekend I did the same thing to my blog. It can be so easy to neglect my own sites when I have clients to focus on, but I’m so glad I had some time to make these updates. I’ve just felt so inspired lately. I wanted to share a few of the designs I’ve created in the past few months along with the wonderful bloggers behind the blogs! I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback! Click to view the designs live and check out these awesome bloggers!
