I’m taking a cue from the leaves and making some changes to my look. Sometimes you just need a fresh start, right? Now was the perfect time for me for lots of reasons, but I’m so glad I made the decision to switch it up. I met the amazing hair and makeup artist, Marina, on a styled shoot I had recently. She was so sweet and super talented, so I had to ask if she did cut and color too. Luckily, she said yes, and was sweet enough to come over for the makeover, which is like everything to me. Seriously, I’m a total homebody when I’m not traveling.

So we started with a consultation. I usually like to do the opposite of what everyone else does, so while other girls are darkening their hair for fall and winter, I decided to lighten mine. I wanted to go a little warm as we lightened it, but I wanted it to look as natural as possible. Oh but also have dimension. I wanted it all! And somehow, Marina was able to deliver. She brought my vision to life, even better than I imagined it myself. I couldn’t be happier!

As my hair was processing, Marina surprised me with a full beauty makeover. She did my makeup for a Friendsgiving event I had that night – so sweet of her! I decided to go with a since I wanted to do something different and Marina took it a step further and did an ombre look on my lips. I’m obsessed! She used . It definitely stayed on all night too!

When the highlights were ready, she washed my hair and we moved on to the cut. Last time I got my hair cut, I told the stylist I wanted layers, but more noticeable than as usual. I get layers every time I get my hair cut, but it’s usually just 3 long layers. I walked out of the salon with one length in a straight line across my back. Not exciting at all. Marina, again, far exceeded my expectations and cut my hair even better than I imagined it. You know how when you do your hair for the first time after a cut you’re like um, this is not what it looked like before. How do I style this? That did not happen at all this time. My hair looks amazing no matter what I do to it! The new layers are so pretty and the fresh color really pops. I love it!
