Yay! October first has finally come! I feel like this day is the true first day of fall, even though technically fall started a week ago. There are so many reasons I love fall, but one of the top reasons is definitely riding boots. I busted out my booties a couple months ago, but now I think it’s safe to start preparing for full on boot season.

Boots are so great because no matter how simple your outfit is, you can feel complete with the right boot. Throw on a jacket or coat and you’re as good as gold. If you haven’t already started your collection of fall and winter boots, I suggest starting with a two toned boot. The most common combination is a black boot with a brown or tan upper shaft. I love this because you can easily throw these boots on to match virtually anything you’re wearing. This style is definitely the best way to get the most out of your money.

If you already have a boot like this, or it just isn’t your style, other options include tan (my favorite!), brown and black. Personally, I love black for winter, but the simple color can sometimes get a little boring, so when it comes to black, I like to choose boots with a little embellishment. A fun route to go is military inspired embellishments. This can add a little bit of structure to you usual winter look. Some of my other favorite embellishments for any color boots include buckles and extra straps.
