Who doesn’t love finding that perfect pair of jeans that seem like they’re made for you? Denim can be so flattering, but when it doesn’t fit right, it is the total opposite. As a petite woman, shopping for jeans isn’t always a fun outing. When I finally find a pair that fits my waist, they seem to be made for a 7 foot tall woman. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it just doesn’t work for 5 foot tall me. Finding clothes that fit has been a struggle for me for as long as I can remember (I can’t be the only one, right?), so share a few tips that I have found helpful.
1. Cuff the bottom. Of course, you shouldn’t have to do this to all of your jeans, but it is the perfect solution when you fall in love with those jeans that are just a smidge too long. If they’re super long, go with a larger width cuff to make it work.
2. Shop the juniors section. They often offer a wider range of size, which works well for me. My favorite option is Hollister Co. They offer jeans all the way from a 23 inch waist to a 30 in 3 lengths: short, regular and tall.
3. Try a new waistline. Lately, I LOVE high waisted jeans. They are figure-flattering and can be worn so many ways. I like tucking in the front of my top & leaving the back loose. I’ve found jeans with a higher waist are easier to fit nicely. Of course, it’s different for everyone, but it’s always nice to branch out and explore what might work best for you! Hollister Co. has a great selection of waistlines as well.
Like I recently shared on social media, I spent a few hours shopping at Hollister a couple weeks ago. I heard they were having a sale (any jeans in store for $20!) and knew I had to drop by. Like I mentioned above, I often have better luck with juniors sizes, and Hollister always nails it when it comes to denim. The quality is always great, the styles are just what I like, and the fit is always perfect. It was so hard to choose, but I ended up with the Super Skinny jeans in white. I love them so much and will definitely wear them a ton before winter!
What are your tips for finding great fitting jeans?
