Garden Party

A while back, I was invited to a garden party. Spring is certainly the season of these outdoor soirees and I was so excited for warm weather that I immediately accepted the invitation. Unfortunately, I ended up unable to make it to the party, but since I already had my outfit picked out and ready to go, I decided to share it here.
I’m not really a huge fan of crop tops; I don’t like feeling like I constantly need to suck in. Plus I think I’m getting to an age where they’re no longer appropriate, but when they’re paired with something high-waisted, I feel a lot more comfortable. This midi skirt is something I imagine someone else wearing with a blouse tucked into it, but that’s just not my style. I love that it’s a cool faux leather material and since white is my favorite color, I knew I had to have it. But what to wear it with?!
{ old floral crop top, // // Chanel borrowed from Bella Bag // old wedges, similar }
I really wanted to pair it with something bright pink and I drooled over this (which is on sale now…maybe I should get it…), but I couldn’t justify buying it at the time. I recently read a finance book so I’ve been really thoughtful with my money lately. I have a hard time letting go of it for something that won’t either make me more money (ie investing) or make me a better person, like traveling or other special experiences. Anyway, I finally remembered this crop top I have from last year (seen here & here) and thought it would be the perfect match.
I added my baby lilac Chanel and some mini polka dot wedges to reinforce the spring vibes. I put my hair in a braided bun, which you can’t really see but I think it looked cute in person. Aren’t braids the best for spring?
I really like how this look turned out and fingers crossed I get invited to another garden party soon because I have my outfit ready!
Are you a fan of crop tops? What would you wear to a garden party?

Lovely look! I always pair my crop tops with something high-waisted. It is always a good idea. 🙂

What a beautiful look! I’m not always a fan of the crop either – but you make it look effortless and pretty. Great look!

I love this outfit! I agree, crop tops are so much more comfortable when worn with something high waisted.

I’m a huge fan of crop tops, but I definitely like to wear them in a more subtly with either a high waisted skirt/shorts or overalls.
I love this look. I may or may not be in the market for a white midi skirt now thanks to you!

Oooh, I love the idea of wearing a crop top with overalls! And this white midi is totally fab. I don’t have lots of skirts in this style but I really love this one!

I love how this look is so playful and feminine. I will have to add crop tops and high-waisted skirts to my spring wardrobe!

I’ve never been to a garden party before, but I would love to go to one! I love that you still had an awesome outfit picked out even though you weren’t able to go. I feel the same way about crop tops! I’ve never been confident enough about my stomach to wear them since it hasn’t been flat since high school pretty much. I really love your skirt! Ah! I want it.

Yeah, I already had it all picked out and ready to go when something came up. Oh well, next time! And my stomach definitely is not flat either, but this skirt covers that very well! 🙂

I’m a fan of crop tops but my belly is not quite flat for them. I think a jumpsuit would go well for a garden party.
