Do you ever feel like you have no clue what you’re doing when it comes to home decor? It never ceases to amaze me how blown away people are by my decor when they come over. I feel like my place is so basic, but everyone else loves it. And don’t get me wrong, I love it too; I just feel like I kind of threw some pretty stuff all together and it ended up working. In reality, I guess I do kind of know what I’m doing. After all, aren’t we all just winging it?

My new favorite way to make it really seem like you know your stuff in home decor is rug layering. I would never have thought of this on my own, so I can’t take all the credit, but I’m obsessed. The idea was actually given to me by Nourison. I always say that a rug can completely change a room – and I firmly believe it’s the best way to do so. When it comes to home decor, I keep my larger furniture pieces clean and simple and jazz it all up with accessories, like a rug, pillows, throws, etc. It’s so much easier to switch the accessories out when you’re craving a change.

When I was redecorating my little office area, I knew I wanted to go with a white, pink, and gold color scheme. What could be better, am I right? I already had this office chair I scored at recently, so I was set with the pink. I’ve actually been wanting an animal skin style rug upstairs for a while – before I moved into my place, I saw the listing for it and the previous owner had a rug like this (although not as cute, of course). I thought it looked really great, but I hadn’t been able to find a good one. Until now! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this gold Mina Victory Couture Rug. How perfect! And in true blogger fashion, you know I had to get a white furry Mina Victory Couture rug. Not only is it super chic, but it’s so incredibly soft. Perfect to go under my feet while I”m working!

The final touch were these Mina Victory pillows. I wanted to tie in the pink, and add a little bit of metallic. I will probably move these pillows around in the future. I would love them for my bed! Until then, they add a pretty feminine touch to my office and I love it.
