As someone who grew up going to the beach, I’ve always been partial to the ocean. I think that’s pretty clear by all my tropical vacations, right? But there’s something so special about “lake life” and it’s really starting to rival my love of beaches. Last week I spent 4 days up in Michigan at my best friend’s lake house and it was pure perfection.
Her family has actually been going to the same lake house every summer for her entire life, so it’s a special place for all of them. Since we’ve been best friends for over 15 years, I’ve gone a few times before, and every time I fall more in love. There’s so much to say about this place: the clean, fresh air, the long days (the sunset was after 10pm!!!), the refreshing lake water; but what really makes Big Fish Lake so special is the people.
In the south, people are friendly, sure. But when you’re at the lake, everyone is friends with everyone. You’re in vacation mode, you’re carefree, and you can be whoever you want without any judgment. My best friend Meghann’s dad started going to the lake when he was a kid. He grew up there every summer. At age 29, Meghann has done the same. Now, Meghann’s daughter Linnea is getting the same experiences they both had. And most of the families on the lake are the same. How incredible is that?! I feel so honored that I get to experience that with them.
So now that I’ve gotten the emo part out of the way, let’s talk about this bomb , can we? I actually ended up coming across it because I heard about a sale. I checked out the site and saw this perfect suit in my size. So great for the 4th, right?! But then I realized the store is based in the UK and only offers standard shipping. By some miracle, I actually got it in time! It came in 4 days. Don’t ask me how, but I’ll take it! I ordered this other as a backup, so I just wore both. They’d actually be cute mixed and matched together, don’t you think?
The were a last minute purchase too. I actually ordered them via Amazon Prime (win!) and then when I got them, I loved them so much that I ordered them in ! Clearly they both came in on time! I was obviously feeling very festive this year. But everything I got was under $30, so it worked out!
