A Maxi in May

I took these photos a few weeks back, but never had a chance to post them due to my trip to LA. I love this dress though so I just had to share!
I love a good printed maxi. Finding the right printed dress can be hard. To be honest, most of the ones I’ve seen look cheap or tacky to me, but I finally hit the jackpot with this ivy + blu maxi. I love how the designer perfectly combined stripes and florals and then added rich colors to create a really special piece of clothing.
I wore my hair up to show off the great cap sleeves and super tall heels to compensate for the long length – oh the struggles of a petite woman. There are perks, though. I found these Valentino babies at TJ Maxx for $150 (similar). They were the last pair and just happened to be in my size. Was it fate? I think so.
I added this blush pink Olivia + Joy handbag to finish off the look. I like how the pale color complements the deep and bold colors of the dress. I threw on a Henri Bendel cuff bracelet and I was ready to go. Love this look!

I like maxi dresses but have never found one for me!
I felt the same way about maxi skirts until I found one that fits perfectly. I wore it on a post this week.

I am petite and I wear maxis all the time! I’m 5’1″. I’d say just pick ones that are cinched at the waist or have a flattering shape to them. If they’re too loose, they tend to not work on petites.

Just pick ones that are more fitted! Maxis are though for shorter girls, but I’m short and I wear them all the time! 🙂

I think anyone can pull off a maxi. I’m 5’1″ and wear them at least once/week. I think if you’re short, you should just opt for more fitted ones to show your frame. Adding a belt helps!

Honestly maxis look super comfy, but you’re right: I think a lot of them can look cheap and/or tacky. The one you’re wearing, however, is GORGEOUS. It’s flattering and vibrant and spring-y!
