Mexico City Travel Guide, where to go in mexico city, where to eat in mexico city, where to stay in mexico city, best neighborhoods in mexico city, safe neighborhoods in mexico city

To wrap up my Mexico City posts, I wanted to share all of my favorite things I did while there. Here are my recommendations for a Mexico City trip!

Favorite Neighborhoods

Polanco: high-end, vibrant neighborhood with lots of shopping and restaurants. We suspect this is where the telenovela stars hang.
Roma Norte: casual neighborhood with great restaurants. Peaceful and walkable.
San Angel: a little far away, but worth a visit. Gorgeous, cobblestone streets and flowers fill this residential neighborhood. There’s also a great

Hyatt Regency Mexico City: Stunning hotel right in Polanco. We got the royal treatment here and I can’t recommend it enough! The location is perfect and the hotel itself is gorgeous.
Airbnb: To get the experience of local living, try Airbnb. We did this in Roma, but I would suggest getting an Airbnb in Polanco.

Where to Eat

Churrerรญa El Moro: amazing churros!!! But be sure to go to the location in Roma Norte. Whatever you do, do not go to the Centro Histรณrico location!
Rosa Negra: The food, drinks, and service are all exceptional here. We loved it! And of course it’s in Polanco.

Where to Drink

Gin Gin: the aesthetic of this place is amazing. We went to the location in Roma Norte. It seems like a place where the locals hang out, which is pretty cool. The food isn’t great though, so I recommend eating before you go.

Jules Basement: This place was so cool because it’s a speakeasy, and who doesn’t love those?! You get in through a refrigerator door and walk down the stairs to the underground bar with live jazz music. Protip: get the Autumn Sweater. So good. Oh, and be sure to make a reservation! That’s how you get in.

Where to Shop

Ciudadela Market: I loved shopping here! This enormous market is comprised of tons of little booths and shops, each offering different types of handmade goods. We saw stunning home decor pieces, hangbags, beautiful dishes, toys, and more. We actually shopped here twice and I still feel like I didn’t get enough time there. Be sure to negotiate the prices – sellers are flexible.

Polanco: If you’re looking for high-end designer shops and boutiques, check out Polanco. You won’t be scoring any deals here.

Lucha Libre

Lucha Libre was probably the best night we had in Mexico City. I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. By then end of the night, I had my favorite fighter, who I nicknamed “Azul” since he was wearing blue. I was passionate about him winning, and in the end, he did. Woohoo! Make sure to go to the fight at Arena Mexico. It’s so good and so authentic! We bought our tickets first on ticketmaster and had no problems at all.

Have you been to Mexicoย City? What are your recommendations on where to eat, sleep, and drink?
