All through my teen and college years, I had no issues with my skin at all. Sure, every now and then I’d get a pimple, but breakouts were few and far between and the idea of fine lines and wrinkles was a completely foreign concept to me. So I didn’t really do much to take care of my skin aside from washing it every day. I was broke, so I bought cheap cleansers and drugstore makeup. Cut to age 24 when all of a sudden, my skin was covered in breakouts and I was sensitive to everything.

I spent thousands of dollars trying all the best acne skin care lines and literally nothing worked. It was horrible. There were days I wouldn’t even leave the house and I wouldn’t even let me family see me without makeup on. And that’s the thing – the makeup was only hurting, not helping. I knew my makeup was making my skin worse, but I felt like I had no choice. Through years of trial and error, I’ve found that certain ingredients make me breakout. So many cleansers contain harsh chemicals that break down your skin and make it weaker to environmental effects, creating all kinds of issues, present and future. Then I found the perfect cleanser for me: BeautyCounter’s Cleansing Balm.

I had never heard of a cleansing balm before I tried this and I was definitely skeptical, but to say I’m obsessed would be the understatement of the century. You apply it to your dry face and it melts into your skin. It’s heavenly. I leave it on for a couple minutes before gently rinsing it with a warm washcloth and on some days, I’ll leave it on as a mask or even overnight. I actually only use it at night and I don’t wash my face at all in the mornings. I can’t believe how much healthier my skin looks! I noticed a difference in my skin after one use. Insane, right?!

After such amazing results, I had to look into the brand more. Turns out, they have a whole campaign of #BetterBeauty. The brand’s mission is to “get safer products into the hands of everyone.” They created The Never List™, which is made up of 1,500 harmful or questionable ingredients that BeautyCounter prohibits, including the nearly 1,400 ingredients banned in the European Union. Suddenly, the fact that my skin doesn’t negatively react to this stuff all makes sense! Since I had such a great experience with the cleanser, I wanted more, which led to me trying the foundation. It turned out to be the best foundation I’ve ever used and I will be a customer for life. My skin is so sensitive that some foundations I’ve used have caused my skin to get hot, red, and itchy on top of the breakouts. My skin is nothing but radiant and luminous when I use BeautyCounter’s Skin Tint and Cleansing Balm. I’ve always heard what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in it. I’m so glad to say I am finally being more healthy on both counts!
