I have been growing my hair out for as long as I can remember. I have always loved having long, voluminous hair, but lately that has been changing a little. I am naturally a brunette and have pretty much stuck with my natural color throughout my life. I got highlights once and I wasn’t really in love–it just wasn’t anything special. But now I feel like I really need a change. I rarely wear my hair down because it just gets in the way and the dark chocolate color is just too drab for spring.

So I have decided to chop it off. Let me just preface this by saying that this isn’t the first time I have made a plan to “do something different.” If you look through my thousands of Facebook pictures, you will see that I have pretty much kept the same style throughout my late teens to early adult years. I don’t know why I just can’t pull the trigger. I have always had that fantasy of telling my stylist to have their way with me…my hair of course! But I have never been fortunate to find anyone that I trust that much.

In a few weeks, I will be going to New York for one week. Maybe then I can go to a highly esteemed professional and come out looking like a goddess. A girl can dream right? Anyway, here are my inspiration pictures:

I guess I have always just felt that long hair = pretty, short hair = edgy. And I always want to have the option to just be pretty. I honestly think that you need a much prettier face to pull off short hair than you need with long hair. Maybe to make up for the femininity long hair brings? It also seems like most people with this cut are blonde (Just google “long bob”). I want to go lighter but I don’t think my skin tone was made to be mixed with blonde…

What do you think? Can I pull this off or should I just stick to what I know works? What cuts and colors are you considering this spring/summer?
