Have you ever heard of a coffee shop so beautiful that people actually get married there? Well such a coffee shop exists and I have to say, it’s incredible. The Grounds of Alexandria is a coffee shop/restaurant/flower shop/farm/wedding venue/probably more located in the Alexandria neighborhood of Sydney. After receiving countless recommendations from friends who have visited Sydney and even a few who have lived there, this amazing coffee shop didn’t appear on one list. Which makes me feel like I got kind of the inside scoop.
My sister and I ventured out to Alexandria to meet with the photographer I worked with while in town, David. When he told me The Grounds of Alexandria was a popular coffee shop, I pictured an amped up Starbucks with some extra hipster elements. I was so off. When I walked up I immediately knew why he wanted to meet here and even better, I knew he got me and my aesthetic. We drank coffee, chatted, and finally set off for some photos.
This gorgeous fountain is located between the outdoor greenhouse sitting area and the pin where goats and other various animals are kept. I got to play by the fountain barefoot, shop for flowers, swing on a jumbo swing and chat with a parrot, all in the same place. I think the secret to Sydney is to get deep in the neighborhoods and out of the downtown CBD area. It certainly worked out in this case!
What’s your favorite coffee shop?
