Shelling & Sunbathing in Sanibel, FL

If you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I spent the last week in Sanibel and Captiva, Florida. I went down to Lee County with some fellow bloggers for some seriously awesome adventures to “shellebrate” the inaugural National Seashell Day on June 20. We went parasailing (my first time!), kayaking, shelling, exploring and more. I really enjoyed the beach days, but most of all, it was so fab to meet Kerrie, Chelsea, Alli & Bobby and see my old pal and sorority sister Alyssa.
The first day of our trip, we headed out to Cayo Costa and Cabbage Key for some shelling and a tasty lunch at The Original Cheeseburger in Paradise. These islands are old accessible by boat, which makes them extra pretty and secluded. We spent the first half of the day boating alongside dolphins who playfully jumped out of the water as we drive by. It was so cool to see them!
When we got to Cayo Costa, we learned all about the various shells we would come across on the beach. There are so many different types and I was so shocked to find countless perfect shells along the shore. Like seriously not broken at all. I wish I was craftier so I could make something cool with all of my favorite finds! After the most perfect beach day, we headed over to Cabbage Key to eat. The restaurant we went to was actually made famous by Jimmy Buffet when he sang about it in a song – pretty cool!
For my first day in southwest Florida, I wore my new . I’ve totally been gravitating towards one piece suits lately. But of course they have to be cute ones like this! I topped it off with this custom hat I got from Etsy before I left for Thailand. Pretty amazing, right? Finally, I wore my brand new .
It was the perfect way to kick off the trip. Can’t wait to share more!
Have you ever been to Fort Myers or Sanibel/Captiva?
