Simple Style: When Less is More

One of the first things I noticed about the fashion here in Atlanta is the fact that the women really take the phrase “bigger is better” to heart. I see lots of big hair, big statement necklaces (it’s like bubble and teardrop galore over here) and loud prints like paisley and bright florals. Now not all of the women dress like this of course, but it is a lot more prominent here than what I’m used to.
For me, less is more when it comes to fashion and accessorizing. I try to stay away from too many prints and bold jewelry. I prefer to mix dainty jewels, throw on a crossbody, grab my jacket and go. And I tend to stick to neutrals when it comes to my clothing. That way, I can switch it up and wear my clothing items several different ways. Then I use outerwear, scarves and shoes to add that pop of color, texture or print to my ensemble.
It seems like simple style has kind of been forgotten with access to so many affordable fashion items thanks to stores like H&M, Forever 21 and Zara, but I always appreciate understated elegance, and there are some bloggers out there who occasionally agree with me.
