One of the most popular spring activities is the annual “spring cleaning.” Clearing the clutter out of your home transcends into your life and things just feel better. This season, follow L2B’s spring cleaning tips for a stress free year.
Start off with your room. Now is the perfect time to get rid of all of that extra stuff you never use or wear. Get rid of any beauty or health products that are a year or more old. In reality, you should do this as often as possible, but if you do it at least once a year, then you’re good to go.
Next, go through your jewelry box and closet. If you haven’t worn a piece in the past two years, donate it to charity. Chances are, that bandage bottom dress trend isn’t coming back and you’re better off de-cluttering and rebuying later than keeping that old Forever 21 piece that will probably fall apart the next time you wash it anyway. When in doubt, throw it out!
Now that you’ve gotten rid of all the excess, you can organize and clean. Take this opportunity to find a little home for all of your things. Don’t leave anything out or else the purpose is defeated. First, take everything off the shelves, out of the drawers, etc., and wipe down all surfaces and appliances. You’ll be amazed by all the dust that can accumulate! Then let your inner OCD take the reins and organize.
Finally, you’re ready to vacuum or sweep, depending on your flooring. After you’ve gotten all the corners, complete your clean room with making your bed. Then lay down on it and relax—you’ve earned it!
If you’re like me, you most likely live with roommates. Although you can deep clean your room, getting the whole house in tip top shape can be hard to do all alone. Schedule a time with your roomies to all clean together. Blast some Britney Spears and get scrubbing.
Now that your room and whole home are clean, not only will everyday tasks be easier to complete, but your stress should decrease and after Spring Break you’ll return to a nice, clean abode.
