Yโ€™all. Iโ€™ve found it. The ultimate winter to spring transition dress is here โ€“ and Iโ€™m obsessed. During the winter, I am all about neutrals, especially black. Spring brings pastels and prints before I go into full on color mode in summer. So it would make sense that a transitional piece should incorporate elements from both seasons it is cusped in between. Thanks to this gorgeous EILEEN FISHER dress from Saks, Iโ€™ve realized that grey is the perfect color for transitioning to spring.

Think about it: itโ€™s lighter and airier than black โ€“ kind of like a pastel version of black. So perfect, right? And to make things even more fun, this dress has an easy print, but my favorite element has to be the fabric. Itโ€™s so soft and flowing. The brand actually worked with skilled dyers in Narumi, Japan who modernized the ancient art of folding, tying, and pleating fabric to create these beautiful, intricate designs. I felt so feminine, cool, and stylish in this dress. And after knowing the history and art used to create it, I appreciate this dress even more!

Itโ€™s funny, I always avoided this length in the past because I am petite at just 5โ€™1โ€, so I assumed it would make me look stubby. But I have to admit, I was totally wrong. I really think the fact that this dress is layered with a sheer top layer makes a difference, but it has honestly opened me up to trying more lengths in the future โ€“ especially this spring.

I wore it with my new slip on heels and a classic white saddle bag. And it looks like spring really is here in the south, because I picked these flowers from a bush I walked by right before snapping these photos. Arenโ€™t they so pretty?

Whatโ€™s your favorite winter to spring transitional piece?
