When it’s finally summer, it’s only appropriate to celebrate the best season of the year in the sun with friends and sangria. So that’s exactly what I did this weekend. After a long work week, I invited friends over for a little Memorial Day celebration (note the patriotic straws 😉 ). Three day weekends are always great, but they’re even better when you spend the extra time with friends.
I made some delicious sangria (it’s always been my specialty) filled with tasty fruits. I put out some light bites for everyone to enjoy and we blasted my Britney playlist. It was the perfect closing to the long weekend. I always love relaxing on Sundays, but since I won’t have to work quite as much today (I’ll still be working – it never ends when you work for yourself!), I decided it was ok to enjoy myself just a little bit.
I was so pleased with the sangria I made. I usually use whatever I can find and throw it all together in a pitcher. It is never the same as the last time I made it, but it’s always yummy. This one might be my favorite I’ve ever made. It’s so perfect for summer and was a big crowd pleaser. Here’s the recipe so you can recreate it:
You’ll Need:
1 cup UV sangria vodka
5-10 strawberries
1 handful blackberries
1 handful grapes
3 cups sparkling water
1.5oz orange triple sec
1/2 cup peppermint lemonade juice OR 1/2 cup peach vanilla juice
1/2 lemon
Instructions:
Earlier in the day, I let the fresh fruits soak in the sangria flavored vodka to really amp up the flavor. I used mostly strawberries since they are my favorite fruit, which resulted in a strawberry flavored sangria. Right before my guests arrived, I added the 3 cups sparkling water and triple sec. To cool it down, I threw in some ice and then squeezed in the 1/2 lemon for a little kick. Finally, I gave it a stir and it was ready. So easy, right?! I actually ended up leaving two options of flavor boost for my guests: peppermint lemonade and peach vanilla. I was really undecided on what I wanted and was actually leaning towards the peach flavor, but ultimately ended up going with the peppermint lemonade. It was amazing.
Since the weather is so beautiful right now, we did everything outside on our balcony. After a while, we all headed up to the roof with our sangria. The view is so beautiful up there, but they don’t allow glass so shhh, don’t tell.
Everything was so quick and easy, there was basically no prep time for this party. I just opened the packages for the snacks, baked some brie for like 20 mins and set everything out. That’s totally my kind of party!
I also wanted to note that I’ll be entering this recipe into UV Vodka’s contest on their Facebook page. Starting June 1, you can vote daily for your favorite recipe by going to their Facebook page here. Wish me luck!
How do you make sangria?

The sangria looks so delicious! Do you know what I should add if I can’t get hold of the sangria vodka and have to use plain vodka? I’m quite sure I can’t get that here in Norway.

I’d just use wine and vodka! I usually just use wine – I’m sure it would be yummy!
