A Stylish Surprise

As a busy workaholic, I rarely have time to go shopping. Not only do I not have the time but to tell you the truth, I don’t really enjoy it. Digging through the racks, trying on a million things to find maybe one thing that works, heading home sad an empty handed – it sucks. That’s why I typically opt for online shopping most of the time. It’s easy to sift through the selections and I can do it in my bed with a glass of wine in hand. The only problem is, I end up returning half of what I order because it either looks way different (aka cheaper) in person or it doesn’t fit right.
But there’s a new way of shopping that solves all those problems: Brown Box Club. Brown Box Club from Finicky Filly is an awesome at home shopping service with a fun twist: a stylist picks out all the items for you based on your preferences and sizing and ships them to you for free. You don’t see what she picks for you until you receive the box, making it like Christmas every time you get your Brown Box! The best part is, you don’t have to pay for everything up front just to try it on & possibly return like ordering online from other stores. There is a $18 boxing fee, but that goes towards your purchase when you get something in your box that you just can’t part with.
I got my very first Brown Box about a week ago. I was so excited to open it; it was so hard to take these unboxing pics! I just wanted to rip open all the paper. In total I got 21 items valued at over $4,500. Obvi I’m not a millionaire so I didn’t keep it all, but there were 4 things in the box that I am obsessed with. To tell you the truth, I was a little worried about someone else picking my clothes out for me. I’m really picky and even harder to fit, so I was really impressed when I went through my box. Of course I didn’t love every single piece, but I think my style & sizing is something that my stylist will learn over time and get better and better at nailing.
When I first saw this white vest, I was a little on the fence. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cool piece, but is it me? Could I pull it off? I don’t think I would have picked it out if I were in the store shopping, but I’m so glad my stylist sent it to me. I love it! That’s another cool thing about Brown Box – you can discover new styles you wouldn’t normally have picked out yourself. Now I don’t think I’ll be able to send it back. I’m totally keeping this piece! And how cute is this Tory Burch bag?! I’ve been searching for the perfect little pink crossbody for months now. Is my stylist secretly a mind reader?
This DVF dress is another piece I had been eyeing for a while, but I was unsure due to the price. I didn’t want to spend $600 just to turn around and return it. I really really love this dress, but I don’t think I’m going to keep it. It’s really long on me even with heels and I’d just be uncomfortable the whole time I wore it. Luckily I wasn’t already charged so no problemo! The clutch is incredible though. I love taxidermy (I’ve posted about it a few times before!) so I’m glad I got to see this beauty in person.
All in all, my experience with Brown Box Club was great. I got to discover some new styles, finally got my hands on something I had been wanting for a while, and got to play dress up at home for free! Does it get any better than that?
Would you ever try an at home shopping service?

That dress is so beautiful! I love the colors! This sounds a lot like Stitch Fix; have you tried them before? If you did, which one did you prefer?
June 8, 2015 @ 2:53 pm
Hi Chelsie! I haven’t tried Stitch Fix, but the pieces in Brown Box are definitely much higher quality including several designer pieces, so I think it’s like a higher end version of Stitch Fix with a bit more selection!
