Summer is the ideal season for natural beauty. Glowing tans call for less makeup and effortless beauty is key in the heat. Follow this makeup and hair tutorial for natural glamour and you’re sure to be the envy of the room.
Makeup: Start with moisturizer and a BB Cream to even out your skin tone while creating a fresh palette. Use concealer on any blemishes and under your eyes for a well-rested effect.
- Eyes: Apply a neutral base color with some shimmer. Go with peach or gold for this step. Next, gently apply a deeper color on the outer side of the lid and a highlighter on the brow bone. Blend with a blender brush. Now line your eyes with eyeliner and and the outer edge with an up swoop. (If you have trouble with this step, try applying it in short dashes across the lash line and connect them.) Finally, accentuate the lash line with a brown shadow and apply the highlighter near your tear ducts. Finish with mascara.
- Face: Apply your foundation with a foundation brush to make sure it is perfectly even. Use some finishing powder before moving on to bronzer to set the foundation in place. Apply your bronzer where the sun naturally hits your face (your cheekbones, nose, forehead and chin. L2B tip: trace your face in the shape of a 3 on each side.) Next, use a fan brush to lightly apply some blush to the apples of your cheeks. Finish with some highlighter on the high points of your cheeks and a quick swipe down the slope of your nose.
- Lips: If you’re going out on the town at night, finish off your look with a deep, beautiful red. If it’s daytime, opt for something lighter like peach.
Hair: One of the most amazingly glamorous hair styles is the Carrie Bradshaw top bun, but it can also be toned down for summer by adding a simple braid. Using the sock method, start with a high ponytail. Now separate about an inch-thick piece of hair from the bottom and braid it. Take the rest of the hair and roll it around a rolled sock (as seen here). Now take the braid and wrap it around the bottom of the bun (as pictured in the image at the top of the page). Tuck the end of the braid into the original rubber band used for your ponytail. Secure with bobby pins.
And that’s it! Now you’re ready to show off your casual glamour and elegance for the world to see!
