Summer is always a super busy time for me. Every year I’m constantly traveling domestically for events with family and friends. Very rarely do I get a weekend in town, much less a weekend without a million things to do. Luckily, this past weekend was one of those weekends. It was amazing. I just posted about this on Instagram, but sometimes you just need a break. And I took my break in this perfect summer date night dress.
Since we had a free day and I needed some pics for the blog, Ryan and I decided to go shoot. Our plan was to do 2 outfits. So on Saturday morning, we grabbed some Starbucks and went location scouting around midtown. After about an hour or so, we decided on 2 locations and went back home to chill and then eventually get ready for the shoot. Our goal was to leave around 4:30 so we didn’t have to rush to shoot before sunset. Well, we were finally ready at 6 and headed to location number one just to find out that it would cost $20 to park. No way! So instead we went to location number 2 and searched for a good white area to shoot.
I spotted a cute restaurant and suggested grabbing a super quick bite and drinks since I was all dressed up and wanted to use the location. Plus, I hate taking photos and not actually doing anything in the cute outfits. A lot of times I’ll put together an outfit, wear it out and about, and then shoot it later. But when I can shoot while I’m actually wearing the look in real life, that’s even better. So anyway, it actually turned out being better that the first location didn’t work out. We got to discover a new restaurant and spend some quality time together. Plus I looked cute as hell in this amazing white linen mini dress.
I bought this dress for Bali and wore it to dinner one night, but it was too dark to shoot it (you can see it in our video though!). I thought it was the perfect date summer night dress, especially for a tropical vacation. I always find it hard to find form-fitting dresses that are comfortable and not too revealing. This one totally fits the bill on all counts. The one catch is it’s not cheap (in price or quality!), BUT it comes from a brand that’s all about sustainability and their stuff is 100% NOT made in sweatshops, so I’m down to support.
I absolutely love the way this dress fits and couldn’t be happier with it. I won’t splurge all the time, but this one was definitely worth it. I wore it with my classic Gucci crossbody for the ultimate date night look. Add a little snakeskin stiletto and I was feelin fine. You might have noticed that I switched up my hair and makeup. I very rarely wear my hair straight, but since I was running late, I took the short route. I was feelin the sleek vibes and added some hoops to finish the look. It’s so much fun to switch it up. I should really do it more – and Ryan loved it!
Oh and we never ended up getting to that second outfit. Oh well, next time! I think everything worked out perfectly and we had an awesome evening.
