summer health tips, summer recipe guide, HUM vitamins, collagen boost, healthy summer habits

I talked about taking a break from advocacy and the stress of every day in my last post, and it’s something I continuously struggle with. For me, traveling has always been my way of letting go of the everyday and enjoying life. Now that I don’t have that, I’m having to find new ways of self-care. I’m intentionally carving in time for taking care of myself and thinking about my health. Here’s what I’m focusing on:

Hydration

It’s so easy to get dehydrated in the summer months when you’re out in the sun, so I’ve been extra careful about my water intake. I’ve also been adding Hydralyte to my water once a day to give myself a little boost. This helps my feel hydrated especially on those days when I feel like I might not have had enough water–or for a day of drinking at the lake.

Being Active

I’ve never been one to work out. I absolutely hate it. Yoga is the only thing I can get into and I still have a hard time making myself do it. But with quarantine and, again, no traveling, I can’t just sit on my ass all day and expect to feel great. So as part of my summer self-care, I’ve been going on walks as much as I can. And starting in August, I’m going to get some professional training from my friend and business partner (and fellow blogger!) Lauren of Lauren Elyce. I am SO excited to finally get some help. I’m one of those people who won’t do anything if no one’s making me. In fact, Ryan has to give me my vitamins every morning or else I’ll forget! Anyway, Lauren is creating a whole custom plan for me. I can’t wait!

Vitamin Boost

Speaking of vitamins, I’m finally taking some pretty regularly for the first time in my life. A while back, I got one of those customized services with the daily packs of pills and one of them tasted like straight fish. I hate seafood and this vitamin literally made my stomach turn. So I’ve kind of been wary of vitamins since then, but I recently stocked up on a bunch of . I’ve been taking , , , and on a daily basis. Then at night I take and as needed. All this is in addition to my daily dose of . This is one habit I hope to continue for as long as possible!

Healthy Eating

Finally, I’m revamping my diet so it’s healthier, but still enjoyable. It’s easy for me to get off track, but in the summer, I do enjoy lighter, crisper meals. Luckily I have an amazing guide to help me along the way: My friend Eleni and her 4-week summer meal plan! Parise the lawd, I don’t have to think up any ideas, just follow hers. She even sent me a link to an Amazon Shop Page with all the ingredients needed. I could cry tears of joy!

The recipes support gut and immune health white decreasing inflammation and are totally customizable for your diet. For me, that obviously means vegetarian-friendly. That’s what’s up! So in total, there are 46 recipes. Some of the popular ones include Zucchini Pizza Boats, Spicy Turmeric Lentil Bowl, Falafel Burger with Dill Sauce, and Avocado Spring Rolls.

What are you doing to take care of yourself this summer?
