summer sangria recipe

Every time the weather starts warming up, I find myself stocking up on fruits and wine to make my old summer favorite: sangria. When I was in college, I used to make sangria almost every weekend. Now that my partying days are over, sangria is the one thing that stayed. It’s the perfect refreshing drink with a little kick for an outdoor soiree, girls night, or happy hour. And the fact that it is so customizable doesn’t hurt either. Here’s how I make my favorite version:

You’ll need:

5-10 strawberries, washed and sliced
10-15 blackberries, washed
1 grape cluster
1 bottle of red wine (I used trusty ole 2 buck chuck merlot)
1 can of blood orange San Pellegrino
2oz liquor (optional & can be any kind you want)
a splash of limeade

Directions:

Pour the liquids together in a cute pitcher & add fruits. If you’re impatient and want to drink asap (like me), add ice and pour into a glass. If you can wait and want it to taste even better, put the pitcher in the fridge and let it sit for a few hours so the fruits really infuse the drink.

Now pour yourself a glass and enjoy the beautiful weather. You’ve earned it!

Do you like sangria in the summer? What do you use to make it?
