Last night, my friend Allison took our other coworker and me to a little event called The Sketchbook Project. I had never heard of this before, but the concept is really cool. Basically, anyone can sign up online to get a blank little book sent to them. You fill it up with anything you want and then send it back in by the deadline. Then the book goes on tour around the country and random people can go to the event (like the one we went to last night) and read/look at your book. It was so cool. I absolutely loved it. So today I decided to order a book and I will work on it for a couple months before sending it off to go on tour. After the tour, all the sketchbooks are stored at the Brooklyn Art Library.
The Sketchbook Project is a wonderful way for anyone to express their creativity. I fully believe that everyone in this world needs to express themselves creatively. It is hard, and it takes a lot of courage to do so, but The Sketchbook Project provides a great avenue for those who are more private with their creativity.
Sharing our creativity with others is a great way to spread ideas and inspire others. Which is exactly why I have ordered my own sketchbook! I can’t wait to write things somewhat anonymously for others to read. I will also probably try some other artsy things over the months that I have the sketchbook.
Have you ever heard of The Sketchbook Project? Have you participated in any way?
Here’s a video Allison made of us at the event:
