For as long as I can remember, I have been a fan of coffee. It probably wasn’t appropriate for my mother to give me my own daily cup starting at the age of eight (it wasn’t strong, I promise!), but from that moment on, the sweet taste and bold flavors became some of my favorite in the world. Living in the south has also given me a unique appreciate for iced coffee. It is much too hot outside to drink hot coffee 360 days out of the year, so why even bother? Now, iced is the only only way I take my coffee.
But why am I talking about coffee in a cocktail recipe post? Well, I have just one word for you: Whynatte. Whynatte is a premium coffee and energy latte premixed and ready to go in a can. The concept originally came from an interesting cocktail: a latte with a shot of jager dropped into it. Now, that’s not really my ideal boozy beverage, but it creates an interesting idea: coffee cocktails. So this month, The Urban Lush is sponsored by Whynatte and Danasia and I are going to come up with some yummy drinks with a kick for all you coffee lovers out there.
This week, we went with a few flavors that coffee drinkers are already familiar with: hazelnut and cinnamon. To make two cinna-haze martinis you’ll need:
1 can Whynatte
1oz Cinnamon flavored vodka (we used Smirnoff)
2oz Hazelnut Kahlua
dash of cinnamon for garnish (if you want to be really fancy, use it to rim the martini glass)
Mix Whynatte, cinnamon vodka, and hazelnut Kahlua in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and pour in martini glass. Garnish with a dash of cinnamon. Enjoy!
Danasia and I had so much fun making this delicious treat. Read her take on it here.
Have you ever tried Whynatte? What did you think of the coffee flavored energy drink?

Mmm mmmm this looks so delicious! I’m not a huge fan of Kahlua, but the cinnamon would probably balance it out plenty ๐

It is so good! You can’t really taste the Kahlua too much, it all blends together very nicely!

I’ve never tried Whynatte. The idea of a coffee flavored drink doesn’t appeal to me – I love the smell of coffee, but no so much the taste. However, the cinnamon would probably balance it nicely. It’s worth a try!

Omg, this looks delicious! Unfortunately, I can’t have one. I’m diabetic and when I have even a small drink, I get severe headaches from my medication. ๐
