arenas del mar costa rica, pura vida, rainforest, old navy, trailblazer

Pura Vida! I am so excited to finally post about my favorite place on earth: Costa Rica. A couple months ago, I came across a flight deal online and immediately purchased a ticket to come here. Little did I know that this spur-of-the-moment decision would change my life forever.

For my first full day in paradise, I decided to hike through the rainforest in an effort to see some monkeys. I stayed at Arenas Del Mar, which is completely immersed in the rainforest (yet still directly on the water – so awesome) so I walked the trail on the grounds. Since this was a fairly easy and mild hike, I decided to go ahead and dress up cute for it.

It is pretty hot here–about 80-90 degrees–so I went with shorts, but I wore long sleeves so I could avoid bug bites and scratches from trees and plants. I brought my backpack and wore some pretty impractical hiking shoes, but they surprisingly worked pretty well on the trail! I ended up seeing two different types of monkeys, a sloth and a few iguanas. So cool!

Even though it was incredibly awesome, I think I’m done with the whole hiking part of Costa Rica for the moment. It’s time to hit the beach!

Have you ever been to Costa Rica?
