Traveling from winter to summer (ie to a tropical destination when it’s winter where you live) can be really tough. You obviously have to dress warm enough for the cold when you leave, but when you get there, you don’t want to be sweating your ass off. So travel attire can be really tough. I’ve been struggling a bit myself, but I think I found a pretty good solution.

Besides the obvious technique of layering, I’ve found that a great way to go from cold to warm without changing is to opt for light & bright colored clothing that keeps you warm. I went with some tropical pants that are also comfy (I wore leggings underneath to keep warm!) paired with a white seater on top of a white tee. I topped it off with my Olivia Pope coat and wore my tieks flats. You might be wondering, “what is that super cute blue bag you’re holding?!” It’s my new garment bag from 9th & Wander, a travel-centric shop based out of Atlanta. They carry everything from dresses and sunhats to passport holders and garment bags. It’s my first non-disposable garment bag and I must say, it has already become a travel essential.

Upon arriving in Hawaii, I did have to carry my coat, but other than that, I wasn’t too hot as we left the airport. Granted, it was night time, but I think this was a perfect travel look. Don’t judge me if I wear the same thing back home.

What style tips do you have for traveling to a different climate?
