How I Transformed My
2C Waves Into 3A Curls
I’ve had
quite
the curly hair journey. It took years of heat damage, straightening treatments, and a global pandemic for me to finally embrace my curls. But I’m here and they’re prettier than ever!

Identify Your Curls
I identified my hair as 2C and catered to that. I discovered some lightweight products that changed everything, and now my hair is mostly 3A with more spirals than waves!
Use a Wide-Tooth Comb
Only use a wide-tooth comb on curly hair. And never, ever brush your curls when they're dry!
Moisturizing Shampoo
Since curly hair is susceptible to dryness, a moisturizing shampoo is essential.
Apply Gel
Apply a lightweight gel (don't weigh down those curls!) to soaking wet hair before scrunching.
Use a Microfiber Towel
I try to let my hair air dry for awhile, but I'll use a microfiber towel or t-shirt to scrunch if I'm in a rush.
Diffuse
Once my hair is about 30% dry, I can start diffusing if I need to.
Sleep
When it’s time to sleep, I put my curls in a high, loose pony tail using silk or satin scrunchies so I don’t damage my hair.
Dry Shampoo
On days 2-5, I'll use a curling spray or water to reactivate the curls if needed. I aim to wash my hair only once a week, so a good dry shampoo is my best friend!
Curly hair is a process! I still feel like I’m learning more about my hair every day and I look forward to continuing my curly hair journey.
