communication & Spending
Communicating and spending is very easy as an American in Belize. Their official language is English and they accept United States Dollars as well!
getting around & Safety
I would rely on hotel transport options; I wouldn’t rent a car in Belize. Crime is high, but it’s mostly in the local areas. If you stay with a tour guide you’re totally fine!
What to pack
We opted for the jungle and ruins side of the country, which called for a lot of athletic wear. The “feels like” temp was close to 110 degrees most days so pack accordingly!
Resort wear was perfect for dinner and pool days. Think light, breezy pieces for the warm weather.
where to stay
We went for the adventurous side and stayed near Belmopan. Our hotel was the Rainforest Lodge at Sleeping Giant and it was incredible!
what to do
Exploring the Mayan Ruins was the primary reason for our visit to Belize. The ruins were breathtaking, and seeing something so old is indescribable.
Exploring the rainforest was a no-brainer. We got to see so many different exotic plants, heard monkeys howling in the distance, and took in the most amazing views.
