When I plan a trip, I tend to spend a ton of time researching what hotel to stay in. To me, the vibe of the hotel sets the tone for the day, and for this trip that was especially true – they ended up playing a huge role in how I experienced each area. You know ya girl loves a good luxurious, five star hotel, so all the hotels mentioned here are in line with that.
From a serene retreat nestled in the rice fields of Ubud to a stylish beachfront resort in Seminyak, every hotel brought something different to the journey. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway, a solo adventure, or a luxury retreat, this Bali hotel guide highlights the best places to stay in Bali, from boutique villas to luxury resorts.
Ubud: Plataran Ubud Hotel & Spa
Vibe: Peaceful, lush, and culturally rich—right in the heart of Ubud
Perfect for: Culture, history, a great base for day trips around Bali
Plataran Ubud was one of my later stops in Bali, but it quickly became one of the most memorable. Set just off the main road, this tranquil retreat feels worlds away from the buzz of town—even though you’re only steps from cafes, shops, and sacred temples.
With an ancient village temple on-site, rice fields on the grounds, and a daily Balinese sunset ceremony, there’s a real sense of connection to the Balinese culture. I even got to make traditional Jamu, took a cooking class, and did a guided cultural walk through the village. Morning yoga outdoors was another highlight, even if getting up before 7am was a struggle!
I had a suite and it was massive – I had two bathrooms! The pools (yes, plural) and grounds are dreamy, and the whole property just invites you to slow down and be present. Plus, with two restaurants on site, you really don’t need to leave if you don’t want to.
Canggu: Hotel Sages
Vibe: Intimate, earthy, and effortlessly chic
Perfect for: Solo travelers, creatives, and design lovers
Hotel Sages is an oasis tucked away from the busy streets of Canggu, and it’s truly something special. With only a handful of thoughtfully designed rooms, it feels more like a retreat than a hotel. Everything from the organic linens to the handmade decor gives it a grounded, calming energy. And the staff are just as warm and welcoming.
There’s a small communal kitchen, a dreamy little pool, and open-air spaces that invite connection and creativity. I met some incredible women during my stay here. It’s the kind of place where people actually talk to each other, in the best way.
While it’s not in the heart of the hustle, it’s just a short scooter ride to the beach and all the cute cafés. But honestly, you may not want to leave. It’s that peaceful.
Tip: Book early—it fills up fast, and for good reason. Or rent out the whole place for the ultimate group getaway!
Seminyak: The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa
Vibe: Classic beachfront luxury with Balinese charm
Perfect for: First-timers, honeymooners, and fans of The White Lotus season 3
The Seminyak Beach Resort & Spa is one of those places that just feels like a vacation. It’s right on the beach, with a stunning infinity pool overlooking the ocean, and everything about it—from the elegant rooms to the lush gardens—feels refined but still warm and welcoming.
I loved how easy it was to get everywhere. You can walk to beach clubs, cafés, shops, and some of the best restaurants in Seminyak. But the hotel itself is also such a haven—you could spend an entire day by the pool, get a massage at the spa, and watch the sunset from your lounger without ever leaving.
The rooms are spacious and beautifully styled with traditional Balinese details and modern comforts. I stayed in an ocean-facing room, and waking up to the sound of the waves was such a dream.
Tip: Take advantage of the daily coffee specials – so good!!
Uluwatu: Nisí Villas
Vibe: Elevated minimalism with a Mediterranean soul
Perfect for: Aesthetic travelers, explorers, surfers, and anyone craving barefoot luxury near the beach
Nisí Villas is a dreamy boutique stay just a short walk from Bingin Beach. Each villa is beautifully curated with soft tones, clean lines, and organic textures. Think creamy stone, natural wood, and breezy white curtains. It feels more like a private design sanctuary than a hotel – and the location couldn’t be better.
The outdoor living areas and private plunge pools are perfect for slow mornings or winding down after a beach day. It’s peaceful, intimate, and so photogenic without trying too hard. While it doesn’t offer all the bells and whistles of a full resort, the personal touches—like in-villa breakfast and genuinely kind service—make it feel just as special.
Tip: You want to be right in the action in Uluwatu – the roads are bumpy and it can take forever to go a super short distance if you’re off the beaten path, trust me!
Every place I stayed in Bali brought a different energy, and that’s one of the things I love most about this island. Your hotel isn’t just a place to sleep; it becomes part of the experience. Whether it was sipping Jamu in Ubud, connecting with like-minded travelers in Canggu, or watching the sunset from a beachfront lounger in Seminyak, each stay shaped my trip in its own way.
