As I have clearly expressed in past blog posts, I’m not the biggest fan of cold weather, but that doesn’t mean I don’t modify my skin care and beauty routine to accommodate the freezing temps and harsh winds. I’ve learned that skin care the first step to a great natural beauty look, so I always make sure to clean my skin regularly and use moisturizer every day.
My go-to destination for all things beauty is always Walgreens. Yes, I do like some high-end stuff that you can only get at a specialty or department store, but there are so many really great beauty items that are affordable AND effective.
Here are my top five Walgreens favorites, all of which I am wearing in the above photos:
1. : These shouldn’t be used as your only cleanser, but they are great to get all your makeup off. They’re super gentle and smell nice. I’ve also noticed my skin is clearer when I use these wipes.
2. : We all know that moisturizing in the winter is essential–no one wants dried out skin–but did you know you also need SPF in the winter? Don’t skip this important feature, just because you don’t see the sun as much.
3: Although I don’t wear as much bronzer in the winter, I still like to sweep a little below my cheekbone to enhance the bone structure. This is the only bronzer I use and I love it year round.
4: I am totally obsessed with E.L.F. products. They are SO affordable, (seriously, as low as $1!!) and really work so great. I got a compliment on the liner just the other day and I love being able to share that I got it at Walgreens for just over a dollar!
5: I have sworn by this mascara since high school. I LOVE how voluminous it makes my lashes. It also makes them look so much longer. A little tip I can give is to gently curl your lashes with the wand on the underside, while twirling it up and away from your lid. Does that make sense? I always do this and it works wonders.
What are some of your winter beauty tips?

You are so pretty! Your beauty routine is certainly working:)
My winter skincare… I cleanse & tone. Exfoliate gently with a luke warm, clean facecloth. I always use moisturizer during the day…and coconut oil on stubborn dry spots. Also, I swear by bare minerals face makeup. Love your blog, girlie;)

I just purchased my first e.l.f. product today and was a little unsure of what to expect, but now I have high hopes! #client
January 27, 2014 @ 1:00 pm
I love the brand! I got a huge haul of like $100 worth of products back in December – all for 50% off. I love it all!
January 27, 2014 @ 1:10 pm
Great natural look! I really like e.l.f. products too. They are quite affordable and actually really good beauty items. Will be writing about them later this week too.
January 27, 2014 @ 1:13 pm
Awesome, can’t wait to see it! A lot of more affordable brands aren’t acceptable quality, but e.l.f. is such a great value!
January 27, 2014 @ 1:18 pm
Wonderful post!
Very useful tips sweetie
Have a sweet week

January 27, 2014 @ 2:12 pm
Love the tips! I switch moisturizers almost daily because none ever seem to work for me. I’ll have to try the Olay one. And love Aveeno wipes!
January 27, 2014 @ 2:17 pm
Yep, I’m with you on the moisturizers! I like the Olay one because it’s a lot for a low price, plus it has SPF!
January 27, 2014 @ 3:23 pm
You’re gorgeous! Seriously.. and I LOVE Elf products cause they’re so affordable yet still great quality (I mean, for the price..). Lovely list!

Agreed! Thank you 🙂
January 27, 2014 @ 4:04 pm
Aveeno face wipes are SO great! I love that they aren’t super fragrant and they leave a nice finish after you’re done with them. Great tips, I am definitely considering moisturizer since it can be so dry.
Always,
Mostly Lisa
January 27, 2014 @ 4:18 pm
Exactly! I’ve tried lots of wipes and the Aveeno ones are def my fave!
January 27, 2014 @ 4:43 pm
One thing I always do to make my mascara look even fuller and longer– coat the top of your lashes first, and then come up from the underside. This REALLY lengthens and makes them look thicker. I picked this up from a marathon of What Not To Wear. Ha!
January 27, 2014 @ 5:02 pm
Yep! That’s what I was trying to explain in the post. You make it much more clear, though! haha
January 27, 2014 @ 8:10 pm
You gotta love Walgreens! I have never tried any “E.L.F.” products, but I certainly will now! I had no idea they were so inexpensive. Thanks for the great information! Always appreciated!
January 28, 2014 @ 12:22 am
Yay! So glad I could share the brand with you! They are really a great value for the price!
January 27, 2014 @ 8:32 pm
really great tips for this weather
January 28, 2014 @ 12:22 am
Thank you!
January 27, 2014 @ 9:24 pm
I am an avid fan of argan oil since last Winter, this has kept my face hydrated and not- drying at all throughout the cold season. I also try to use a more gentle cleanser like Cetaphil.
January 28, 2014 @ 12:23 am
Argan oil is GREAT!! It’s perfect for oily skin. I should revisit it. And yes, Cetaphil is awesome! My mom always used in on my sister’s sensitive skin when we were growing up.
January 27, 2014 @ 9:29 pm
I’m all about the drugstore, too, and I LOVE the Aveeno wipes. They’re the best ones I’ve ever used. If you want to save money though, baby wipes work wonders! No joke.

It’s so important!
January 28, 2014 @ 7:11 pm
Moisturizing is my savior during this harsh, cold weather. I’ve heard so many good things about the Physician’s Formula bronzer but am yet to try it! So tempted!

i wear sunscreen everyday even on cloudy days. i do find that some of the less expensive shampoos and conditioners work just as well as the more expensive shampoos. i spend more on my dogs shampoos and brushes than i do mine.
January 29, 2014 @ 6:42 pm
Good for you! A lot of people aren’t as careful as you are so good job! And I can definitely relate to spending more on my little maltese, Adri!! 🙂

Aww, thank you!!! Bronzer is definitely a great tool for contouring!
January 31, 2014 @ 11:40 am
Ugh… winter is wreaking HAVOC with my skin this year. Somehow I’m dry and breaking out all at the same time. I’m definitely going back to Aveeno; it’s the only thing that keeps my skin clear and balanced. Visiting your site instead of reading through my reader…. LOVING how clean and profesh your site is looking! 🙂
January 31, 2014 @ 12:23 pm
Yay, so glad you like it!! This winter isn’t being kind to me either. I’ve been applying moisturizer and lip balm like a mad woman. And drinking water nonstop. It helps hydrate your skin! Thanks for stopping by! Miss you, girl!! xo
