While I don’t live up north, I’ve heard enough about this blizzard to feel like I do. So while I won’t be experiencing the polar winds and freezing temps, I will be inside at home avoiding the frigid 40s here in Atlanta. And since I’m an expert at being trapped inside thanks to my hurricane days in Florida, I’ve become a pro at distractions. Here’s my list of what to do during the 2015 Snowpocalypse (with a glass of wine in hand, obvi):
1. Organize your closet
When do people have time to color coordinate or even shift seasonal clothes? Right now. That’s when. Get to it! Camille Styles has a helpful guide if you need a little motivation.
2. Work out
I remember a couple years ago I worked out in our building’s gym for the first time because the internet was out. I had no idea what to do with myself. Even if you don’t have a gym, do some crunches or follow one of those at home workout guides.
3. Game Night with the Neighbors
If you’re trapped at home alone, grab a bottle and some neighbors and set up a fun game night. Cards Against Humanity is my fave! It may be lame to some, but I seriously LOVE game night. Plus most games can be turned into drinking games. Double win.
4. Shop Online
And finally, the best distraction of all: online shopping! Just remember, shipping might be delayed a day or two. Here’s a round up of some current sales to make up for it:
- code FINDAFAV promotion ends 1.27.15
- no code promotion ends 1.28.15
- code FINAL promotion ends 2.3.15
- ON $150+ code FS150 limited time only

I’d take a hurricane over a snow storm any day!! haha

I think my winter distractions would be to listen to audiobooks while deep cleaning my bedroom. And maybe my closet…but I don’t know if I’m THAT brave!
January 28, 2015 @ 3:47 pm
I love audio books! That’s such a great idea!
January 27, 2015 @ 12:38 pm
definitely love these distractions haha. I need to organize my closet! I’ll be moving out next month so I need to get on it! My favorite winter distractions are reading, watching movies, hot chocolate and tea or coffee, and cooking!
January 28, 2015 @ 3:48 pm
Moving is a great time to organize! Mmmm hot chocolate & coffee 🙂 🙂

I do live in the NorthEast and it is quite a challenge to distract yourself from the ravishing winter. But once we get all the “extra” winter associated chores done, I am way to beat to consider any extra exercise! But, I could be distracted by a warm toddy and movie.
January 28, 2015 @ 3:49 pm
That doesn’t sound like something I’d like very much haha. I can’t even deal with temps below 50 haha
January 27, 2015 @ 4:34 pm
I distract myself from winter blues by living in California, LOL! Thanks for sharing!
January 28, 2015 @ 3:49 pm
Ummm, YES! I think I need to move.

Right?! I love it!!

Thankfully I live in Phoenix and the weather is the 70s! However, I do notice that I stay in more. Lately, I managed to get rid of 5 bags of clothes (closet cleaning). NUTS!! Good tips Megan! I will have to try a game night 🙂
January 28, 2015 @ 3:50 pm
Wow, that’s great! I bet it felt so good to get rid of that. Do yall get winter in Phoenix at all? I’ve never been.

Flat renovation. There is just some something about turning our not so cute flat into something liveable
January 28, 2015 @ 3:51 pm
Great idea!! I’ll have to keep that in mind. I do want to purchase a house to renovate!

I live in CT, so I was inside for the past 2 days…I am able to work from home, so no snow days for me! But, it did give me some extra time to get some cleaning done and to work on my blog. I was born and raised in Atlanta (my family is still there, so it’s still ‘home’ to me!) and I remember with the 40s were ‘cold’…now…that’s a nice, pleasant day, lol! Stay warm! 🙂
January 28, 2015 @ 3:51 pm
Omg, I will NEVER think the 40s is pleasant!! Haha I hate it 🙁 🙁 🙁
January 28, 2015 @ 4:00 am
Shopping online is what I’ve been doing lately when it’s cold outside. My wallet does not like it so much.
January 28, 2015 @ 3:51 pm
Haha!! Retail therapy though, right?! 😉
January 29, 2015 @ 4:05 pm
Online shopping is very fun. One of my favourite winter activities is having a cup of tea and reading a book. Also using the time to marathon TV shows I need to catch up on.
February 2, 2015 @ 4:55 pm
Oh yes to binge watching tv shows!!! I’m watching In Treatment on HBO right now and it is so good!
January 29, 2015 @ 4:55 pm
Dang, your blog is so awesome!!! I’m really loving that winter image; I’ve never been in snow it seems so magical!
February 2, 2015 @ 4:55 pm
Thank you so much! It is pretty amazing. But for me that only lasts like an hour and then I”m over it haha
January 30, 2015 @ 1:25 pm
I love to organize my closet. I always find things I’ve been looking for for ages!!!
February 2, 2015 @ 4:56 pm
Ha! I know the feeling. I’m like oh yeah I forgot about these pants!
January 30, 2015 @ 4:02 pm
Cleaning and organizing is my go-to winter time activity! Haha.
February 2, 2015 @ 4:56 pm
It’s a perfect time to get things done!
January 30, 2015 @ 11:52 pm
I love your photos! If that’s you’re idea of distractions then you should be a professional photographer. My favorite distractions are watching good movies, writing and reading good books.
February 2, 2015 @ 4:57 pm
Thanks! They’re all by my photographer – he’s amazing! I definitely write a lot too…but I do that year round! haha
January 31, 2015 @ 3:22 pm
Great tips! I grew up in the northeast, and the winters were no joke, I do not miss the cold at all 😛
Game nights are one of my favorite things to do in the colder months, so much fun to get together with friends over good food and drinks and laugh the night away.
February 2, 2015 @ 4:58 pm
Game nights are the best! I don’t know how people live in cold weather like it is up north. So not my style!!
January 31, 2015 @ 4:51 pm
This picture is really lovely! When i need a pick-me-up when it’s snowy, I paint my nails or toes!
February 2, 2015 @ 4:59 pm
Yesss mani pedis are the best! I just did that last night. I like to grab a glass of wine, light some candles and put on a lifetime movie or something. Just a total girl night!
February 1, 2015 @ 7:32 pm
I think one of he best ways to deal with the Winter blues is to actually embrace Winter! Nothing makes me feel better than getting bundled and taking a walk in the park when it snows.
February 2, 2015 @ 5:00 pm
NEVER!!!! Haha 50 degrees is too cold for me. I wish I was kidding 🙁
February 2, 2015 @ 3:20 am
Amazing pictures!I love the purity of winter, the untouching feeling.
February 2, 2015 @ 5:01 pm
It hasn’t snowed this winter in Atlanta. It’s just cold. Boo!
