One of the best things about winter is the cozy nights at home. To me, there’s nothing better than snuggling up with a warm blanket next to a crackling fire. Unfortunately, I don’t have a fireplace (tear), but I do have a few cozy items that I’d recommend for a cozy night at home. Here are my favorite winter night essentials:
1. Candles
Since I don’t have a fireplace, the candles bring that pretty ambiance that a good winter night needs. I especially love scented candles since that added favorite scent can bring back memories, relax you, or make you feel like you’re somewhere special.
2. A Soft, Pretty Blanket
Wrapping yourself in a soft blanket is a must on a cold winter night. And a pretty design will just add to that feeling of comfort. In the winter, I prefer prints and textures like plaid, faux fur and and chunky knit.
3. A Good Book
Whether you prefer paperbacks or read on a tablet, a good book is a must for a cozy night. If you’re not much of a reader, pop in a classic movie for entertainment, or browse your tablet and catch up on your favorite blogs.
4. A Warm Cup of Comfort
No matter your drink of choice, sipping on a warm drink soothes and warms you inside out. Whether you’re a hot chocolate kind of girl, enjoy some mulled wine, or go straight for the cider, enjoying a nice cup of something warm will certainly add to the coziness of the night.
What are your winter night essentials?

Great list! I’d have to say a cozy blanket, candles and Netflix π

Netflix is always a good one! We don’t have cable at my place, so we totally get our tv fix from Netflix and Hulu! π

I have recently become obsessed with candles (blame bath and body works) but they just make the house feel extra relaxing!
January 13, 2014 @ 11:58 am
Right?! I looove how they make the vibe of the whole room feel so cozy π

I could be wrapped in a blanket 24/7 and be one happy camper – I love it!

I wish I had a fireplace too! They’re so cozy. I do love candles though. They smell so good. I love getting seasonal candles so my apartment smells like the season. Fall candles are my fave. I think these four things definitely describe the perfect way to get cozy. I’m always cuddled up in a blanket when I’m reading with some hot chocolate nearby. I want to get back in bed now!

Haha, I feel you! I also love seasonal candles. They really make the season come alive! Right now, I’m burning pine and vanilla – yum! π

I don’t have a fireplace, but I’m lovin’ these picks! I totally agree with you! These are perfect.
January 13, 2014 @ 2:12 pm
Thanks! I’m wrapped up in a blanket next to some candles right now π

I am all about a cozy blanket in the winter! My grandma made mine, but when I move out I want to grab one like that Macy’s one you listed to share with roommates.
January 13, 2014 @ 2:12 pm
Aw, a blanket from your grandma sounds so cozy! If I were you, I’d totally keep it forever!

You really can’t go wrong with a great candle. I received so many for Christmas, I don’t know what to do with myself. There’s this one from Anthropologie, that I bought myself ,that is a perfect mix of comfy and floral. On the plus side it was dirt cheap! Had to get it.
Hope you have several more of these cozy nights! xoxo
Always,
Mostly Lisa

You can never have too many candles! haha, I have one like that from Anthropologie too – soo good!

Love these ideas! Cozy blankets and warm drinks are the only things that get me through the cold winter – otherwise I would wish for summer 100% of the time.
January 13, 2014 @ 5:13 pm
Agreed! I am not a fan of cold weather at all! I stay inside as much as possible this time of year.
January 13, 2014 @ 6:02 pm
Yes! A good book and hot chocolate are absolutely essential. I also like fun flavored teas. What books are you reading lately?
January 13, 2014 @ 7:37 pm
Well I recently got obsessed with Orange is the New Black on Netflix, so I got that book to read the real story! Not sure what I’ll read next. Any suggestions?

This is a perfect list! I absolutely love cozy nights in during the winter! I always wish there was a fireplace in my dorm, that would be absolutely perfect!
January 13, 2014 @ 11:49 pm
Right?! Fireplaces are the BEST!!
January 14, 2014 @ 5:55 am
Sometimes I use the heater as my makeshift fireplace … really doesn’t have the same effect though haha π Candles are the best, they smell so awesome too, and bring a certain type of light into your room which is just lovely. I really love your list, pretty much sums up the best things about winter nights in!
January 14, 2014 @ 10:15 am
Haha, sometimes I turn on a fireplace video on my computer or tv and then turn on the heater. The ambiance is still the same! Lol. Thanks for stopping by π

We don’t have winter here but I love to be cuddled up in a cozy blanket with a good book on cold rainy nights.
January 14, 2014 @ 10:15 am
Omg, where do you live? I need no winter! haha
January 15, 2014 @ 12:19 am
My winter essentials are pretty basic. A nice blanket, my lab top, and netflix! Candles are a great and better smell better than wood burning, even though it’s not as warm, lol.
January 15, 2014 @ 10:57 am
Yessss netflix is the best! And you’re right, candles do smell better! Just add a heater and it’s all good haha
January 17, 2014 @ 8:08 pm

I absolutely agree with you on every single winter essential! I do not like the winter nor the cold, but there is something charming about the fireplace, cozy blankets, candles and winter tea. You always have to look for a good side of everything, right? π
