Winter reading list, 2018 reading list, book suggestions, book recommendations, what to read next, audible review, best books on audible, audiobooks

I absolutely love reading. It’s that time I can just disconnect from reality and get lost in another world. I know I’m not alone – I’ve found that tons of my Instagram followers are also avid readers and I always love getting suggestions (some of them are below!). But one way that I might be a little different is that I prefer audiobooks. It’s a controversial preference, especially for a writer, but it just works for me. I love listening as I clean, as I work on design projects, when I’m driving, and any other chance I can get, really. I like multitasking, so it’s perfect for me. I read physical books too, but I mainly stick to audiobooks.

Almost any book you would want to read is available on Audible, so it’s never any trouble finding something. But what is probably the best perk of Audible (which is owned by Amazon, fyi), is the subscriptions they offer. There are different levels, and the higher the level, the better the deal. So, for example, for one credit a month, the price is $15/mo. With that credit, you can get any book, regardless of the price. If you read more often than one book per month, you can sign up for two credits per month for $23/mo. That’s $11.50 per credit. Such a bomb deal! My favorite feature though is that you can return any book for any reason when you buy it with a credit and that credit gets refunded. I do this quite often, simply when I dislike a book. It makes me open to buying different kinds of books because if I don’t like it, I can always get that credit back. I average about one book a week and end up returning one in every 5-10.

Anyway, I could keep going on and on, but let’s get to the reading list. Here are the books I plan to read (/listen to) as I stay warm inside this winter. Please comment with any suggestions you may have!

Fiction – Thriller

The Wife Between Us
I love thrillers, but I am super picky when it comes to them. If I can come even close to guessing the ending, I will hate the entire book. I bought this one before it had any reviews on audible. A real risk. Let’s hope it’s as good as it sounds! And not yet another Girl on the Train wannabe.

Tips for Living
I got this book as my Kindle First, or I guess it’s called Amazon First Reads now. The books are free, but when you have the kindle version of a book, it’s only $1.99 on audible, so I always just get the audiobook. This thriller looks like it has a lot of different storylines, including divorce and murder. Hellz yeah!

The Constant Gardener
This book is as highly rated as they come. It combines a murder mystery with a love story. I’ve already started it and I can’t wait to keep reading! My bestie Danasia also recommended it saying she couldn’t put it down. It’s pretty much a guaranteed winner!

Fiction – Historical

The Alice Project
Historical fiction books are hit or miss for me, but I love it when I can actually learn something about the history of our civilization while listening to a fictitious story. This one seems to hit the nail on the head and comes recommended from follower @donzwebb on Instagram. Can’t wait to dive in!

Nonfiction – Business

Entrepreneurial You
This book is described as being a good refresher for entrepreneurs. The new year is the perfect time to get excited about my businesses again, so it’s exactly what I’m looking for. I’ve been an entrepreneur for years, but I still have so much more to learn! And I always love a good refresher.

Nonfiction – Personal

What I Know for Sure by Oprah WinfreyI’ve read this before, but I’m so excited to listen to it again. Narrated by the queen herself, of course. Her speech at the Golden Globes had me in tears, so I definitely need more Oprah in my life!
